Phillip Phillips is only on day three of his 40 dates summer tour, but he has already been generous with the surprises. On Friday, it was during his opening show of the tour in San Diego, where he performed a beautiful rendition on “Dance with Me,” and a spectacular cover of “Foxy Lady” by Jimi Hendrix.
Then yesterday, Phillip visited Star 107.9’s Star Music Radio Lounge in Las Vegas to play a couple of tunes for some lucky fans. Phillip played “Gone Gone Gone” and then launched into “Magnetic,” a brand new song from his upcoming third album. Played acoustically on two guitars (Phillip was accompanied by Andrew on guitar), the song has a bluesy, definitely sexy feel–both from the lyrics and the music–and showcases Phillip’s wonderful falsetto. If this stripped-down version is incredible, we can just imagine what the fully arranged song will sound like in the album.
