Phillip Phillips Dazzles In Quebec

The Behind The Light tour finished just over a week ago, but Phillip has already made his way to a couple of shows and delighted many fans in the last few days. Last Friday, August 1st, Phillip played for a huge crowd at Festivent Lévis, in Lévis, Quebec. It was Phillip’ second visit to Quebec in just a few months, after playing a sold out show at the Grand Théatre de Québec in March this year. Check out some photos and great reviews from the show below!

Captivating Phillip Phillips

The atmosphere was exhilarating yesterday at Champigny Park, as young Phillip Phillips’ electrifying performance charmed Festivent’s biggest crowd so far.
Phillip Phillips was on his second visit to the region this year, having ignited the stage of the Grand Theatre de Quebec in March. A big name in the music scene, combined with a warm evening under the stars, helped Festivent attract its largest crowd.
Since the last time he was here, Phillips, who handily won American Idol in 2012, has launched his second album, Behind The Light. So the evening’s set list offered a good balance between the two efforts by the singer and the new songs were as well received as the ones that originally helped him to conquer the public.

Powerful Presence

Phillip Phillips, only 23, has a stage presence that’s quite exceptional. Surrounded by a guard of four incredible musicians, including a trombonist, the showman proceeded to unleash his powerful folk and pop roots songs for an hour and a half.
After screaming “Bonjour” into the microphone, doing some guitar adjustments that already had the crowd going delirious, he set the tone for a dynamic evening with the catchy “Get Up Get Down.” The songs were extended with such generous guitar solos that after 15 minutes, he had played only two songs.
“It’s so good to be here tonight!” he shouted to the excited crowd, telling them many times how much he loved them.
The magic continued when the raspy-voiced singer launched into “Gone Gone Gone,” one of his greatest success. “Man On The Moon” and “Wanted Is Love” keep the energy going, again, with electrifying solos, before Phillips plunged into Behind The Light, with “Raging Fire,” “Searchlight” and “Trigger.”
The seasoned guitarist saved the best for last, launching into “Home” in perfect harmony with the thousands of festival goers.
For the encore, after an evening that succeeded in every respect, Phillip Phillips performed “A Fool’s Dance” and “Lollipop,” a Lil Wayne cover that he enjoys to play live. There is no question, Quebec loves it when Phillips comes for a visit.

Phillip Phillips Electrifies Festivent Lévis

A record crowd stormed Friday’s Festivent Lévis to see one of the stars of the day, Phillip Phillips.
Incredibly sexy, with a raspy voice and a contagious energy, Philips loves being on stage and that love transcends every pore of his skin. No wonder he was the winner of the eleventh season of American Idol, he deserves much more than that!
Interpreting not only his hits, but also his new songs, he moved the audience with his catchy and invigorating melodies. Accompanied by excellent musicians playing from stringed to wind instruments, he has everything to appeal to a wide audience.
This outdoor show could have easily taken place at the Centre Bell so much Phillips’ performance was close to perfection. The delighted audience sang, danced and asked for more, burying the singer’s voice while singing along to hits such as “Gone, Gone, Gone” and “Home.” Proud, smiling, Phillip Phillips gave them more, electrifying the crowd.

Phillip Phillips Rocks ‘A Capitol Fourth’

Phillip Phillips continues to make his mark on the music scene, and his way into people’s hearts, with his passionate and musically brilliant performances. Last Friday was no exception when he helped celebrate the 4th of July holiday with an incredible performance of “Raging Fire” on PBS’ “A Capitol Fourth” concert. Phillip brought his whole band with him, plus additional strings and horns and three background singers. As usual, it sounded amazing.

Phillip Phillips At Red Rocks

The air was warm and the view spectacular. It could not have been otherwise sitting at the top of the gorgeous Red Rocks Amphitheater waiting for Phillip Phillips to take the stage last Saturday, June 14. And when he did take the stage just after 7:00 pm, Phillip launched into a set that was a like a fast speed train bound to grab anybody on its path and take them somewhere close to music heaven. But if the surroundings were extraordinary, Phillip’s brilliant set was just what fans have come to expect from his addictive live shows.

Joined by his excellent six-piece band, Phillip played a jam-packed set list that was as grandiose as the beautiful Red Rocks setting, giving new and old fans an even mix of songs from both his albums, The World From The Side Of The Moon and newly released Behind The Light.

Phillip and the band set the tone from the very beginning, opening with “Get Up Get Down” and going into a massive extended jam session that surprised those still getting to their seats. Throughout the set, this pattern continued, playing the hits that everybody loves and knows, like “Gone Gone Gone” and “Raging Fire,” but also debuting many songs from the new album. Almost always, songs got an extended treatment, highlighting each instrument at moments and then coming together again in an exhilarating display of musicianship.

But a band cannot live of jams alone, and the beauty of Phillip’s live shows is that the songs that serve as the base of these incredible jams are incredibly crafted, moving and powerful to begin with, so you are moved by the melodies, you sing along to the lyrics and then marvel and let yourself be surprised by the incredible music coming from the stage; it’s both intellectually and emotionally stimulating.

Highlights of the night were “Man On The Moon,” which had a wild cello intro by Dave Eggar, the powerful “Lead On” of the new album, and “Fly,” played live for the first time and featuring Phillip on electric guitar and solos from almost the whole band. And even the now famous, super slow “Home” intro (a mash-up of covers of “Let’s Get It On” and “I Got A Woman”) was as fiery as the sun setting behind the stage that night. By the time he launched into “Home,” Phillip had the whole crowd on its feet, singing along to the lyrics, taking in the beauty of the place and the music. It was an incredible moment. There is no doubt that the magic of Red Rocks took over Phillip, the band, and all of us too.

Phillip Phillips At Lucky Strike Denver

Phillip Phillips brought his guitar, and his bowling shoes, to Lucky Strike Denver last Saturday for a special acoustic performance and CD signing. And fans in attendance were very lucky indeed as Errol Cooney and Dave Eggar, Phillip’s guitarist and cello player, joined him for the exclusive acoustic performance.

The trio performed three songs, two of them from Phillip’s new album Behind The Light. Though the show was scheduled to start at 1:00 pm, fans–including many from out of state there to see Phillip’ show at Red Rocks later that evening–started lining up as early as 7:30 in the morning to make sure they got a good spot inside the venue. The dedication of fans paid off, as they were treated to an incredibly rocking and inspired performance.
