Phillip Phillips’ Debut Album Is Certified Platinum

20131002133012Phillip_Phillips

Phillip Phillips’ debut album The World From the Side of the Moon (19 Entertainment/Interscope Records) has been certified platinum by the R.I.A.A. in the U.S. less than a year after its release. Released in November 2012 The World From the Side of the Moon debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and #1 on the Billboard Rock Album chart and has gone on to sell over 1 million copies.

CONGRATULATIONS PHILLIP!!!!

To thank fans for their support Phillips is re-releasing his debut album to include three additional live tracks. Live versions of “Gone, Gone, Gone,” “Where We Came From” and “Man on the Moon” will join the live version of his hit single “Home” that is on the original album. This fan edition of The World From the Side of the Moon is due November 19th, on the one-year anniversary of the album’s original release. Fans can also purchase the three tracks as a separate set titled Phillip Philips: Live. The new live songs were recorded during stops on John Mayer’s Born and Raised tour.

The World From the Side of the Moon’s first two singles “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone” have hit Number One on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, putting Phillips in the company of only eight other male solo artists who have achieved the same feat. “Home” sees sales of over 4.7 million making it the most successful single of any American Idol winner. The album’s third single, “Where We Came From” is one of nine tracks on the album Phillips wrote or co-wrote.

‘Home’ catapulted Phillip Phillips to the top of the charts

ven16_ja_27sep_phillips

Phillip Phillips keeps moving forward.

Nearly one year after his debut album, “The World From the Side of the Moon,” was released, it’s gone platinum.

It also has spawned hits – “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone,” and his current single “Where We Came From” is rising on the charts.

Phillips burst onto the music scene through “American Idol,” where he won season 11. Since then, he’s been on tour nonstop and he was able to snag the opening slot on John Mayer’s return to touring.

“It’s been a blessing and I don’t want it to slow down,” he says during a recent interview. “All of this has been something I’ve worked at since I was young.”

Phillips was raised in Leesburg, Ga., and took up guitar at the age of 14. He was inspired by his now brother-in-law Benjamin Neil and that began Phillips’ love affair with the guitar.

But it wasn’t until a few years later that Phillips formed his first band with his sister and brother-in-law and became a singer.

“I used to always keep my singing to myself and never let anyone hear me, but then my sister and brother-in-law caught me one night and told me I had to start singing in the band,” he says. “We played at a church that Sunday and the room was packed and I thought I was going to pass out, but I did it.”

After having a year of constant touring under his belt for the album, Phillips says the entire collection of songs has grown on him in a different way.

“The album sort of takes you through all these different emotions. There are feel-good songs and love songs but also songs that get a little darker,” he says. “The most important thing to me is making music that comes from my heart and really connects with people on a gut level.”

For the past year, he’s been able to play his own songs for live audiences – both as a headliner and as an opener.

He says it was a little bit terrifying to share his songs.

“We’re at the point where the crowd’s singing along – even to the ones that aren’t the singles – which is amazing to see,” he says. “We just go out there and jam out and try to make it different and exciting, instead of playing the songs exactly how they sound on the album. It’s all about real musicians playing real music that we’re passionate about and just having a good time, and hopefully we’re giving the crowd a good time, too.”

Phillip Phillips at Arena Anhembi in Sao Paulo – Brazil 9/19/2013

phillipphillips-southamerica

Phillip stepped into South America with its first concert in Argentina, then he came to Brazil to perform at Arena Anhembi in Sao Paulo. It was a success, drawing over 35,000 fans.

Phillip sang 7 songs in addition to some covers, the show lasted about 45 minutes.
Though performing for the first time in Brazil, he was surprised to see that the Brazilians could sing all his songs.

He celebrated his birthday in Brazil (9/20/2013), then the Brazilian fans had a surprise for him, they sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Phill after his concert. I’m pretty sure he loved that surprise.

pamella-phillipThis concert was very special for many reasons, but most importantly it was the first time I would meet him after a long time waiting.
As you know, I got this site since Phillip was on American Idol, and I never had the chance to meet him, but all my hard work paid off, I finally met him.
I met him the night he arrived in Brazil (9/18), he recognized me, looked at me and said, ‘Are you Pam?’ and I said: ‘Yeah Phillip! Finally!’ then he held me tight.
At that moment I was sure that all my work was worth it. I want to thank him for being so wonderful to me. Also want to thank Hannah and Merrick. Thanks for everything.
Philatics you were also amazing to me, thank you for supporting me and making me believe, thank you for visiting the site and trusting in my work.

In May I started a project called ‘fanbook’ (more info), a book with pictures and messages to Phillip. There were messages from fans around the world and I promised the fans that I would deliver this book to him, and yes, I gave it to him personally, he loved it. #success

Thank you Philatics!

Me and Phillip. He’s holding the fanbook.

Phillip Phillips in Buenos Aires – Argentina

phillipphillips-southamerica

arg

Phillip Phillips performs in Argentina for the first time on 9/16 and 9/17/2013. check it out!

The Argentine audience is a myth among the artists that never set foot on this country: it is special, it is different, they say.  It is passionate, warm, hospitable, enthusiast, effusive, it is huge. Yes, that is all true. But there is also something some kind of magic in that first encounter, whenthe artist doesn´t know what he is going to find and the audience gets anxious guessing what they will find. At that very moment, happiness takes the form of music, it is the lyrics , it is a chord, it is an “olé olé olé”.  Artist and fansconverge in a moment that lasts for hours, which is immaterial, unique, where it doesn´t matter what ishappening outside or if the whole world is tumbling down;there is a connection that cannot be broken at all. The artist-offers his music, we offer our hearts and, in between, we let things flow.

John Mayer visited Argentina for the first time and gave two shows in a row at the Luna Park Stadium.  Phillip Phillips, the humble and talented winner of American IdolSeason 11, came as JM´s opening show to present his firstrecord. They both arrived to our country with that idea, with the myth that something magical happens with the Argentine crowd. The myth became reality that Monday, September 16, 20.45, when the lights went out. Find out what happened.

Phillip Phillips, the conquest of the Argentine crowd:

When John Mayer´s tour was announced in Argentina, the news that Phillip Phillips would come as opening act surprised many: on the one hand, those who knew him could not believe it; on the other, the ones who did not know him wondered who Phillip Phillips was, where did he come from. The winner of American Idol came to present some tracks from his album The World From The Side Of The Moon; 50 minutes was enough time for him to win over the crowd.

At 20:45 the Luna Park lights went out and the Georgia-born musician with his band entered the stage. He was welcome by an ovation that surprised him.  Undoubtedly, there were many more Phillip Phillips´ fans in Argentinathan what we all expected. What did Phillip do? What hedoes best, grab his guitar and sweeten our ears. Along with”Hold On“´s first notes came the first cries from the fansthat effusively wanted to express their love for the 23 year-old singer and song-writer.

The audience began to warm up, Phillip began to warm up as well, and thus began what would become a lovely eveningthat included great songs like “Gone Gone Gone“, “Man on the moon”, “Wanted is Love” “Get up Get Down“, and a beautiful cover of “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins.

There was room for the famous “Olé Olé Olé Olé Phillip Phillips” that the singer himself chorused clapping his hands, for an endless ovation when Phillip jammed  together withhis guitar player in an impeccable and energetic  instrumental session and for a “Muchas Gracias (Thank you very much)” that occasionally a somewhat shy Phillip pulled in his modest Spanish, showing that he was more than happy to be on that stage and grateful for the way the crowd embraced him and his band.

He closed the set with a little bit of “Let’s Get it On” (cover of Marvin Gaye) which he linked with the so expected “Home” (the song with which he won American Idol) which is a hit worldwide causing everyone in the audience to clap and sing along, with the hope of seeing him again soon in these latitudes.
