Phillip Phillips in Seattle: Sexy Tunes and Sing-Alongs

The last time I saw Phillip Phillips in concert was a cool fall day in October 2014. At the time, I had no idea it would take almost two years until I was able to see Phillip play live again. That was in part due to Phillip taking some time off after some seriously heavy touring and some missed opportunities on my part. Thankfully, all that is in the past as Phillip is back on the road co-headlining a 40 dates tour across the U.S. with Matt Nathanson. Just over two years after releasing Behind the Light, actual recording sessions are happening for Phillip Phillips‘ third album. Phillip has shared the news over several social media posts and has revealed that guitarist Errol Cooney is back doing some recording for the album. It has become commonplace to describe talent contests as meaningless factories, and their winners as puppets handled and shaped by whatever is popular in the industry at any given time. While this is true in most cases, this argument is difficult to apply to someone like Phillip Phillips. While he was the winner of the eleventh edition of American Idol at just 21 years old, Phillip has talent as a singer and guitarist, and has avoided the obvious clichés one would expect from an assembly line designed for making money.
