Phillip Phillips’ Promotional Showcase in Japan

Phillip Phillips traveled to Japan earlier this week to promote his debut album The World from the Side of the Moon, to be released there on August 19th.

As part of his promotional visit, Phillip played a small showcase for a few lucky fans at the popular Astro Hall in Tokyo. Phillip later appeared on the morning TV show Sukkiri to perform “Gone Gone Gone,” the single chosen to promote the album. The amazing Dave Eggar joined Phillip during both of these performances.

Take a look at Phillip and Dave playing at the Astro Hall showcase!

Phillip Phillips’ Canadian Tour – The Venues

Phillip Phillips’ Canadian Tour is only three weeks away. Needless to say, excitement is mounting, and not only for Canadian fans.

With a new album on the works, the Canadian tour could very well coincide with exciting news about a possible release date, or even more amazing, the actual release of a brand new single. This may be wishful thinking from us, but would not be out of character; so far Phillip has always found ways to surprise fans with unannounced album releases (iTunes Session), and impromptu performances of new, unreleased songs. One thing is for sure, Phillip’s first Canadian tour will be unforgettable for all Canadian fans, those that have been following him since the beginning and the new ones he’ll create along the way. We will celebrate this very special tour by following Phillip and his band from their first show in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the East Coast, all the way to Vancouver, on the Pacific coast.

During the tour, Phillip will play some beautiful venues across the country, but will also make a stop at historical Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, IL in the US. Take a closer look at the tour dates, cities and venues below.

20131002133012Phillip_Phillips

Phillip Phillips’ debut album The World From the Side of the Moon (19 Entertainment/Interscope Records) has been certified platinum by the R.I.A.A. in the U.S. less than a year after its release. Released in November 2012 The World From the Side of the Moon debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and #1 on the Billboard Rock Album chart and has gone on to sell over 1 million copies.

CONGRATULATIONS PHILLIP!!!!

To thank fans for their support Phillips is re-releasing his debut album to include three additional live tracks. Live versions of “Gone, Gone, Gone,” “Where We Came From” and “Man on the Moon” will join the live version of his hit single “Home” that is on the original album. This fan edition of The World From the Side of the Moon is due November 19th, on the one-year anniversary of the album’s original release. Fans can also purchase the three tracks as a separate set titled Phillip Philips: Live. The new live songs were recorded during stops on John Mayer’s Born and Raised tour.

The World From the Side of the Moon’s first two singles “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone” have hit Number One on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, putting Phillips in the company of only eight other male solo artists who have achieved the same feat. “Home” sees sales of over 4.7 million making it the most successful single of any American Idol winner. The album’s third single, “Where We Came From” is one of nine tracks on the album Phillips wrote or co-wrote.

phillipphillips-southamerica

Phillip Phillips performed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Rock in Rio festival on September 21, 2013. He charmed the crowd with his distinctive voice, passion, energy, and remarkable musicianship.

This was Phillips’ first time visiting Brazil, and he got to perform on the same stage as Bruce Springsteen and John Mayer that night. He is currently touring with Mayer for the “Born and Raised” tour.

He began the show with “Get Up, Get Down” and continued with the songs “Man on the Moon”, “Drive Me” and “Gone Gone Gone”, all off his album ‘The World From the Side of the Moon’ which were very well received by the crowd, with lots of applause and fans singing along. During as well as between songs, he showed that he is an amazing instrumentalist on his guitar, as well as showcasing his talented band members throughout the set.

The first was when he performed ‘Thriller’, which brought a flashback to them of him performing it during his American Idol audition. He ended his set with the grand finale of ‘Home’, his most successful single to date. The crowd chanted the anthem of ‘Home’ loud and clear, closing his performance with great positive energy.

Check out performances from his hour long set below!
